What to do after you've completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training CourseĀ

Completing a 200 hour yoga teacher training course (200 Hour YTT) can be one of the most life-changing experiences but making the transformation from yoga teacher training to life in "the real world" can be an emotionally and mentally challenging process. Whether you have just finished your 200 Yoga Teacher Training course or if it was a while ago, it might have left you thinking...

What should I do next?

Now that you've achieved this milestone (and I don't say that lightly!), use this time post-graduation to stay connected with those who were part of the journey with you. Connect with them on social media or join a whatsapp group for example. Chances are they will be feeling similar things and guiding and supporting each other through this stage brings huge rewards (both ways!)

Hopefully, you still have plenty of energy and enthusiasm— so now is the perfect opportunity to start planning for what's next in your yoga career too! To help get you started on the right foot here are a few ideas:

Start Teaching

While it may seem intimidating to teach your first class, having students in your friends and family circle is a great place to start. Search for gyms or studios that offer apprentice or mentor programs (or even online!) as well as volunteer opportunities, allowing you the opportunity to gain experience teaching in more formal settings. It may seem challenging and nerve wrecking to begin with, but with a little practice, you'll find yourself growing in confidence. Don't forget to request constructive feedback from others after giving it your all; this feedback is the only way for you to grow and improve! Even if you are unsure of how people will respond, know that there is no harm in asking - their input will be immensely beneficial.

Complete a 300 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training

By enrolling in an advanced yoga teacher training program and obtaining RYT-300 certification, you will be able to explore specialised techniques beyond basic instruction. This not only grants you the ability to carve out your own distinct niche as a yoga instructor, but also allows you to better serve your students through deeper knowledge. Additionally, having the RYT-500 accreditation (your 200 hour and your 300 hour course combined) serves as a powerful marketing tool for elevating yourself within the industry - studios and clients alike are more likely to choose experienced teachers who have dedicated further effort into their studies!

When looking for a 300-hour course to commit to, download the syllabus first and see what modules and support they offer. Also check out some real reviews from students who have already completed the course. You'll want to invest your time and money into a school that goes above and beyond for you, so research is key.

What’s the difference between 200 hour and 300 hour YTT?

An advanced 300-hour yoga teacher training program is the perfect next step for you to take after completing your 200-hour certification. Some people do it immediately after and some wait a while. If you are sure that a career in yoga is what you want, there’s no need to wait. This course will dive deeper into the concepts of yoga and physical anatomy, providing a more comprehensive understanding than what was initially taught in your first certification. A 200-hour yoga program can give you a great start, but if your ambition is to teach and make teaching yoga a lifelong pursuit, then the 300-hour course will help you gain an even greater understanding of yourself as well as how to become an incredible teacher. This comprehensive program offers invaluable insight that will empower you on your journey towards becoming a master yogi!

Complete a Yoga CPD

If a full 300 hour advanced teacher training course isn’t for you right now, then consider completing a shorter CPD course that focuses on a particular niche you feel aligned with. There are so many of these, but at Yoga Course Teacher Training school, we offer Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra and Mastering the Assists CPD’s. These are great additional courses to add to your repertoire without needing to invest a lot of time and money.

Build Your Brand

Build a community and studio, create an inspiring website, start blogging, post regularly on social media to engage adoring fans, host yoga retreats- there are so many options! You can also consider creating online courses or workshops to reach a broader audience. Building a business and a brand requires a completely different skill set to teaching yoga, so be sure to learn from somebody who’s 'been there done that' before investing a large amount of time and money. From May 17th, Yoga Course Teacher Training will offer a specialised Business of Yoga course that takes the guess work out of starting and growing a successful business. We teach you from idea to execution (and the messy middle) so you can fast track to a successful yoga business you adore.

Congratulations on successfully completing your 200 Hours Yoga Teacher Training Course- that is such a big achievement! Now, it's time to start planning and take advantage of all the amazing opportunities that have opened up for you as a result.

Best of luck in this next step in your journey! If we can help you any further, reach out to us! We're here to help you.
