6 unique (and natural) ways to add flavour to your water!

If you're looking for ways to increase your hydration without sacrificing taste, look no further than this blog.

Drinking plain water for some people can be unappealing - especially if you’re not used to it or don’t like the taste. I’m here to tell you that all hope is not lost! By adding some [all-natural] ingredients to your H2O, you can introduce more flavour and nutrients into each glass while still enjoying the health benefits of staying hydrated. Win-Win!

Many of us don't think beyond a slice of lemon when it comes to infusing flavour, but the truth is there are so many more options to explore. If you're looking for ways to enjoy your water without all the additives, I suggest making your own flavoured water with wholesome and nourishing ingredients. This way, you can savour every sip knowing exactly what's in each glass.

In this blog, I'll share 6 unique and super simple recipes that will make water drinking an enjoyable experience! Without further ado, let's get started.

Btw- all these flavourful recipes share the same simple method; slice, muddle and infuse! Through this process, you will extract all the delicious flavours from each ingredient. Simply top with ice and water, then store in your refrigerator for two to six hours - waiting will help bring out the maximum potential of flavour! Even though it's ready sooner than that, taking extra time allows the ingredients' true essence to shine through.

Truly couldn’t be simpler!

Here we go...

  1. Watermelon and Rosemary

Ingredients

2-3 cups of watermelon, cut into cubes

1 sprig Rosemary

Method

Do you love herbs like me? If so, then this recipe is perfect for you!

Start by placing a rosemary sprig at the bottom of your jar (or pitches) and press it lightly using the end of a wooden spoon to best release its flavours. Add some watermelon cubes and give them a little gentle press (no need to mash up). Finally, top with ice and water before letting everything chill in your fridge for several hours.

  1. Lemon, Cucumber and Mint Water

Ingredients

2 lemons

1 cucumber

5-15 fresh mint leaves

Method

For a traditional favourite, slice the lemons and cucumber thinly before layering them in your jar/ pitcher. Completely blanket the bottom with mint leaves then muddle ever-so-lightly (we don't want to annihilate our ingredients ????). Finally, fill up with water and ice, let chill for 2-6 hours in the fridge - you're all set!

  1. Citrus Water

Ingredients

1/2 - 1 orange

1 lemon

1/2- 1 lime

Method

Start by delicately slicing your citrus fruits and carefully layering them on the bottom of the jar/pitcher. Use the wooden spoon to lightly muddle, then fill up with ice and water. Let everything blend together for 2-6 hours before tasting in delight!

  1. Lemon Berry Water

Ingredients

2 lemons

1-2 cups of raspberries, strawberries, or blackberries (or all three)

Method

Cut a lemon into slices and put them on the bottom of the jar/pitcher. Gently mash some berries with your spoon (gently!), just enough to release their flavour without pureeing them. Fill up the jar with ice and water then let it chill in your refrigerator for 2-6 hours. This one tastes like a sweet summery beverage!

  1. Pineapple, Mango, Ginger and Mint

Ingredients

1-2 cups of pineapple, cut into chunks

1-2 cups of mango, cut into chunks

A small amount of fresh ginger (I use about 5 thin slices, but you can use more or less)

5-15 fresh mint leaves

Method

Begin by crushing the mint and adding to the jar/pitcher. Then, slice five thin pieces of ginger root to add on top. Layer pineapple and mango chunks over that mixture before pressing down with a wooden spoon until juices start flowing! Fill up the container with ice and water, then store in your refrigerator for two to six hours. This one is sooooo rejuvenating!

  1. Berry and Basil Water

Ingredients

1-2 cups of sliced strawberries or whole blackberries (or both)

5-10 leaves of basil

Method

Begin the simple creation by placing the berries and basil at the bottom of a pitcher. Gently crush them with a spoon - no need to puree! Then, add some ice and water before leaving it in the fridge for two to six hours. This one is my favourite ????

There you have it!

The next time you're out grocery shopping, why not pick up some of the ingredients listed above? Trust me - adding intention to your water will make it way more enjoyable and likely encourage you to drink even more. I've shared my favourites, but I encourage you to play around and experiment for yourself. You could try other herbs and berries or even unique fruits like kiwi, passion fruit or papaya! The most important thing, have fun with it!

Cheers everybody!
